Book Reports
- The Hidden Messages in Water by Masaru Emoto - this beautiful
little high-quality paperback presents the results of over a decade of research by Dr. Emoto into the different crystals that water makes under various influences. I first spoke of this a number of years ago but at that time, nothing was available in English. That has now been rectified along with 31 double-sided glossy pages of some of the most beautiful photographs ever taken! While some of his conclusions may seem like a pretty far reach, one cannot ignore other, more obvious ones. Here is one answer as to just why homeopathy works and how words can affect so strongly (see the WordPower section in my Human article, Holistic Tools). At a list price of only $16.95 (Amazon has it for $5 less), this little volume is one is a must if only for the photos! Thanks for heads up on this one, Donna!
- See Spot Live Longer by Steve Brown & Beth Taylor - a very
good book with some excellent nutritional advice. Great as a starter to get people interested in natural nutrition for dogs. Learn more on their website: www.seespotlivelonger.com.
- We Are All The Same: A Story of A Boy's Courage and A
Mother's Love by Jim Wooten - What do you get when you mix an award-winning journalist and a tiny South African boy, Xolani Nkosi, dying of AIDS? This exquisite small book that puts an innocent face on the reality of what is happening to the population in SA where 1-in-5 individuals have HIV/AIDS as did Daphne Khamalo, his Zulu mother. It is, as well, the incredible story of Gail Johnson, who fostered and loved this amazing child given into her care by his mother, to the point of giving him her name. The title comes from the speech that 11 yr. old Nkosi (as he was then called), who looked closer to 6 or 7 and who had beaten all odds to even live beyond the age of 3, wrote and delivered himself, as a keynote speaker, to the 2000 13th International AIDS Conference held in Durban, the center of the country's raging epidemic. Mr Wooten thinks so highly of the end of Nkosi's speech that he likens it to Shakespear's famous speech of Shylock in The Merchant of Venice: "You can't get AIDS by hugging, kissing, holding hands. Care for us and accept us - we are all human beings. We are normal. We have hands. We have feet. We can walk, we can talk, we have needs just like everyone else. Don't be afraid of us. We are all the same!" You can read the whole speech, and more about Nkosi, at http://www.simplytaty.com/bios/nkosi.htm. Gail and Nkosi are heroic shining beacons in the darkness of global enui and violence that seems overwhelming at times.
- Beautiful Jim Key: The Lost History of a Horse and A Man Who
Changed the World by Mim Eichler Rivas - this is not only the story of a magnificent horse, born a cripple, but also of the horse's "whisperer" owner/trainer, born a slave. In an age when training consisted of utter brutality, Dr. William Key taught from awareness and compassion. The horse, Jim Key, became one of the largest draws ever on the 1897-1912 entertainment circuit. "He could add, subtract, spell, cite Bible passages and pluck silver dollars from the bottom of a barrel without drinking the water." Because of the horse/man relationship, thousands of schoolchildren pledged to always be kind to animals. A very heart-warming true story complete with 16 pages of photos.
- . . . and if you want hints as to how to create your own "Jim
Key," take a look at this website www.imagineahorse.com the webmasters of which teach gentle and natural methods of Circensic Dressage as a way to bond more deeply with your horse. Quite inspiring really. Of course any dedicated and aware attention can result in a horse kissing, hugging, shaking hands and even peeing on cue as one of my downline has done, and laying down and playing as another has done. This just gives a more formal approach and rather than preparing a horse for a circus life, it actually increases a horse's physical and mental flexibility; and the owner's too! Thank you Gabi for this great link!
Did You Know?
Of course our take on periodontal health is a pH balanced diet and reasonable Oral Hygiene. If someone has active periodontal disease, increasing DYNAMITE Hiscorbadyne intake is highly recommended; many distributors take up to 8 per day with stupendous results even for eyes and varicosities!
- ...the FDA has approved revisions to safety labeling for a list of
drugs found to pose increased health risks, among which are:
- OTC (Over-the-counter) Pepcid AC & Pepcid Complete, taken to
relieve heartburn associated with acid indigestion and sour stomach - new labeling to include: "Pepcid should not be used in patients experiencing difficult or painful swallowing, vomiting with blood, or bloody or tarry stools" and "{epcid should not be used concurrently with other acid reducers."
- Altace used to reduce the risk of heart attack, stroke or
cardiovascular death, now warns of the risk of intestinal angioedema (abdominal pain with or without nausea or vomiting) in patients treated with angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors.
- Wellbutrin XL, used to help provide relief for those suffering
from depression, now warns of the dose-related risk of seizures linked to its use.
- Levaquin, used to treat lung, sinus, skin and urinary tract
infections caused by certain germs or bacteria, now includes information from animal studies showing a possible risk of arthropathy (a joint disease) associated with its use.
Seems to us it would be far less dangerous to follow our pH balancing diet and to take DYNAMITE supplements! Many users have found total heartburn relief this way with some still requiring some Miracle Clay and/or Trace Minerals Concentrate for ulcers/bleeding ulcers (by the way, if when drinking your daily basic Elixir, it hurts, that is a great indicator that an ulcer is present; stop the Elixir replacing it temporarily with the Clay); and nutrition certainly seems to aid in both the incidence of cardiovascular disease and depression, especially magnesium (PMS); while infections no matter where they exist respond to nutrition, Vit C (Hiscorbadyne), and, in many cases, Solace.
Points to Ponder - more on Fluoride & Fluoridosis - this is coming up for a vote in Fort Collins in April - very important!!!
- Instant tea, one of the most popular drinks in the United
States, may be a source of harmful levels of fluoride, researchers at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis report. The researchers found that some regular strength preparations contain as much as 6.5 parts per million (ppm) of fluoride, well over the 4 ppm maximum allowed in drinking water by the Environmental Protection Agency and 2.4 ppm permitted in bottled water and beverages by the Food and Drug Administration...Each of the teas [including Lipton, Nestea and Luzianne among others] was tested as a regular-strength preparation in fluoride-free water, and each contained fluoride, with amounts ranging from 1.0 to 6.5 parts per million. The study is reported in the January issue of The American Journal of Medicine. "The tea plant is known to accumulate fluoride from the soil and water. Our study points to the need for further investigation of the fluoride content of teas," says Michael Whyte, M.D., professor of medicine, pediatrics and genetics. "We don't know how much variation there is from brand to brand and year to year." In many communities in the United States, fluoride is added to drinking water to help prevent tooth decay. However, the Public Health Service indicates that the fluoride concentration should not exceed 1.2 ppm. Physicians have been aware that ingestion of high levels of fluoride cause bone-forming cells to lay down extra skeletal tissue, increasing bone density but also bone brittleness. The resulting disease, called skeletal fluorosis, can manifest in bone pain, calcification of ligaments, bone spurs, fused vertebrae and difficulty in moving joints. "When fluoride gets into your bones, it stays there for years, and there is no established treatment for skeletal fluorosis," Whyte says. "No one knows if you can fully recover from it." Americans are exposed to fluoride not only through fluoridated water but increasingly through fluoridated toothpastes and other dental preparations. Pesticides, Teflon®-coated cookware, chewing tobacco, some wines and certain sparkling mineral waters are more unusual sources of excess exposure. Until now, instant tea had not been recognized as a significant source of fluoride. http://mednews.wustl.edu/news/page/normal/4607.html
- Dr. Mercola writes: Christopher Bryson has written a book that
is not only interesting, it is also incredibly important. The Fluoride Deception is much more than a book about the dangers of fluoride--it reveals a multi-tiered effort, or as Bryson says an abuse of power, by military and industry scientists and public health officials to shamelessly promote fluoride to the dentistry field and the American public with little regard to the implications it would have on human health. If you are not familiar with the controversy surrounding the use of fluoride in water, toothpaste and numerous other products and industries, your mouth will drop as you read this book. If you are, you will be amazed at just how far and wide the cover-up and deceit stretches. In fact, the evidence is so compelling that you will likely find yourself reading and rereading in disbelief. http: //www.mercola.com/2004/jun/12/fluoride_deception.htm
Do follow Dr. Mercola's links at the bottom of the above page for more fluoride information.
- Last month we had the story of a hygienist who lost a horse to
fluoridosis diagnosed because of previous losses in the Pagosa Springs community. This is a brief story, taken from the Pagosa Springs Sun, of that woman, Cathy Justus. "The Justuses have been raising expensive Quarter Horses practically their entire lives, first in California, then in Pagosa when they moved here more than 20 year ago. Their horses come from long lines of champions and have been ranked among the best in the world. Her voice breaking at times, Cathy described a history of equine problems ranging from Cushing’s Disease (a thyroid condition) to neurological disorders to frequent colics to lameness to infertility – problems that began to plague their horses within a few years of moving to Pagosa Springs and drinking city water. According to Cathy, none of the local vets could explain what could be causing such a vast array of symptoms. Through her own extensive research, Cathy began to suspect that fluoridated water could be the culprit and, after losing her fifth and favorite horse last fall, she decided to find someone who could verify or deny her hunch. After much searching she found Dr. Lennart Krook, D.V.M., Ph.D., Emeritus Professor of Pathology at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY. He had published many works in peer-reviewed journals on the toxicity of fluoride in cows, sheep and other livestock. The Justuses sent off a leg bone from the mare to Cornell for testing. A 17-page report arrived a month later, conclusion: the horse died of fluoride toxicity." ..............I have copies of that and more. Because of the dangers that fluoridated water presents to everyone, Cathy is devoting an incredible amount of time to bringing peoples' and water boards' attention to this insidious toxin. She has joined with Pati Caputo of the Clean Water Advocates of Ft Collins (see the sidebar for websites) to work even more actively. Please share this information with all you know; it is only through education that we can change some of these accepted rules. And certainly, when one adds to this the little book mentioned above, The Hidden Messages in Water, we see the utter importance of having truly pure water. I am writing an article bringing all the fluoride information together - not quite done yet for this newsletter, but do watch for it!

Words of Wisdom ... The Lost Horse: A Sufi Story Many years ago in a poor Chinese village, there live a peasant with his son. His only material possession, apart from some land and a small straw hut, was a horse he dad inherited from his father.
One day, the horse ran off, leaving the man with no animal with which to till the land. His neighbors - who respected him greatly for his honesty and diligence - came to his house to say how much they regretted what had happened. He thanked them for their visit, but asked: "How can you know that what has happened has been a misfortune in my life?"
Someone mumbled to a friend: "He can't accept reality; let him think what he wants, as long as he isn't saddened by what happened." And the neighbors went off, pretending to agree with what they had heard.
A week later, the horse returned to the stable, but it was not alone: it brought with it a fine mare for company. Upon hearing this, the villagers - who were flustered since they now understood the answer the man had given them - returned to the peasant's house in order to congratulate him on his good fortune. "Before you had only one horse, and now you have two. Congratulations!" they said.
"Many thanks for your visit and for all your concern," answered the peasant. "But how can you know that what has happened has been a blessing in my life?" Disconcerted, and thinking he must be going mad, the neighbors went off, and on the way commented: "Does he really not understand that God has sent him a gift?"
A month later, the peasant's son decided to tame the mare, but the animal unexpectedly reared up and the boy fell, breaking his leg. The neighbors returned to the peasant's house bringing gifts for the wounded boy. The mayor of the village offered his condolences to the father, saying that all were very sad at what had happened.
The man thanked them for their visit and their concern, but asked: "How can you know that what has happened has been a misfortune in my life?" They were all astonished to hear this, since no one could be in any doubt that the accident to a son was a real tragedy. As they left the peasant's house, some said to others: "He really has gone mad: his only son might limp forever, and he is still in doubt about whether what happened is a misfortune!"
Some months passed, and Japan declared war on China. The Emperor's envoys traveled throughout the land in search for healthy young men to be sent to the battle front. Upon arrival in the village, they recruited all the young men except the peasant's son whose leg was broken.
None of the young men returned alive but the peasant's son recovered, the two horses bred and their offspring were sold at a good price. The peasant began visiting his neighbors to console and help them since they had all times been so caring for him. Whenever one of them complained, the peasant said: "How do you know it is a misfortune?" If anyone became overjoyed, he asked: "How do you know it is a blessing?"
And the men in that village understood that beyond appearances, life often has other meanings.
Until April! Rowan & John
