Testimonials 1) Dynamite HES: My Magic Bullet Most of the year, my ponies do well with grass hay or pasture and their vitamins and free-choice minerals. Winter, though, can sometimes be a challenge, so I always watch for changes that indicate they need an extra boost. Until this year, it’s been my weanlings that have needed extra help here at 9,000 feet in the Colorado Rockies. This winter, though, has been cloudier, colder, and snowier than usual, and even my adult ponies have needed assistance. How do I tell when they need help? Sometimes it’s because they don’t have as much energy. Sometimes they lack a characteristic sparkle in their eyes. This year they’ve dropped weight more quickly during cold weather than I’ve seen in the past and have taken longer to bounce back. Feeding grain to ponies in this situation makes me really uncomfortable because they are so susceptible to founder and other diseases. According to equine nutritionist Amy Gill, PhD, of Kentucky, “…people have grossly overfed horses for a long time; now we have a number of metabolic syndromes, Cushings disease, insulin resistant horses, foals that are insulin resistant, animals that are prone to obesity and laminitis. The big push now is away from starchy grains and to use more soluble fibers and fats, but there is still a lot of education needed.” I feel fortunate that I discovered a product that addresses my ponies’ needs during the winter without the drawbacks of grain. I consider Dynamite H.E.S. (high energy supplement) my magic bullet. It is a fiber and fat source without starches and sugars. Based on organically grown ingredients from well-mineralized soils, HES is also considered “topline in a bag” by showing enthusiasts because of its ability to build muscle. Just a few ounces can make a difference to a weanling, and a cup daily for my adults has really helped the sparkle come back into their eyes this winter. Another advantage of HES is that it doesn’t make the ponies “hot” since it isn’t based on grains. So when grass hay and vitamins and minerals aren’t quite enough, I know where to turn to find a magic bullet to help my ponies with this difficult climate where we live. These supplements cost over $500 a month during that time. The same horse now eats 2 cups of TNT a day and is sounder that when he was on his previous routine, he is barefoot and ridden Natural horsemanship and 2nd level dressage, trails 5 times a week. He turned 10 this year. When I came to have him as a 5 year old, 3 of my vets were fairly sure the degenerative arthritis would make him too painful for field retirement by 10, quite sure we would have to put him down by now. He has only gotten better and is high ranking in his herd and very active on his own agenda. I have full case history and x-rays....... Best, Maddrey B. 3) TMC & Dog Diet Rowan, all I can say is that you have totally spoiled my little Maltese! She absolutely will NOT eat her old dog food anymore since I have been trying out your generous sample of the Dynamite Super Premium Diet for Dogs. She actually picks out the little "cheerios" to eat and leaves the old food in the bowl. Then she goes over to her "brother's" food bowl to root around in it picking out the good stuff to eat! And yes, her appetite is great, no more mouth odor and no more gum infections since we started her on the Trace Minerals Concentrate. In fact, in the week she was on it prior to her cleaning and expected extractions, her mouth got so much better that no extractions were necessary! Thank you!...... Kathy vR., CO 4) Solace Saves his Ears Hi Rowan! Just had to report that Osha, my very special standard poodle, no longer has any fungus at all in his ears! I am so thrilled that it is now a thing of the past! After literally years and thousands of dollars to think the answer was in 2 little bottles of Solace! I gave him the "parvo protocol" internally while dropping in 2-3 drops in each ear daily for the full time. The left ear cleared up quickly but the right ear took a little longer. Also, following your suggestion, I looked at things that I did not want to hear and sure enough, my dear Osha had taken that on as well! So with that work added to the Solace, he's happy and healthy, continuing his raw diet, and I am delighted that he is no longer worrying his ears all the time. Thank you so much!...... Point to Ponder #1 - Xylitol Dangerous for Dogs . . . . and other doggie dangers! Xylitol is a sugar substitute that is being used now in some sugarless gum and candies as well as other products such as toothpaste where it is considered an anti-caries agent. However it may be for humans, Xylitol, like chocolate & nuts, is very toxic to dogs so absolutely DO NOT let them get into any of your products containing this sweetener. It causes insulin production and a resulting drop in the dog's blood sugar. Hypoglycemia is the result, with possible seizures, coma and permanent liver damage. Deaths have been reported as well. Amazingly and unfortunately, Solid Gold is actually continuing to sell doggie treats containing Xylitol rather than pulling them off the market. We would have to question just why any sweetener, natural or not, is actually needed in dog treats! Another dangerous treat for dogs, sold as a health aid, are the popular "greenies" to help maintain human-friendly doggie breath. Large chunks often do not break down inside dogs and cause blockages in intestines that lead to death. Approx. 40 cases so far. They can also choke your dog. The answer is to either cook for your dog yourself or buy only foods that are absolutely pure such as Dynamite Super Premium Diet for Dogs. We think the best doggie snack are raw carrots or a slice of raw apple and the best training treats are little tiny pieces of cooked free-range chicken or turkey; if frozen in little baggies, these can be kept, in the baggies, in your pocket until needed for treats. Ultimately, of course, the idea is that food is food and the best treat in the world for a dog is loving, stroking hand and a spoken-with-a-smile "good dog!" Point to Ponder #2 - Tequin: A New Killer Antibiotic The antibiotic Tequin, manufactured by Bristol-Myers Squibb, can cause potentially fatal swings in blood sugar. A new study shows that the drug's risks are far greater than they were believed to be. The FDA has already warned doctors not to prescribe the antibiotic to diabetic patients. However, the blood sugar swings have now been observed even in patients without diabetes. An examination of the medical records of almost 1.5 million people older than 65 showed that those who took Tequin had four times the risk of low blood sugar, and almost 17 times the risk of high blood sugar. Those who took Tequin were also far more likely to be hospitalized for blood sugar problems, and a number of such patients died. Tequin made $150 million in worldwide sales last year. It is used to treat lung, sinus and urinary tract infections, and also some sexually transmitted diseases. Alternative antibiotics are available for all of its uses. New England Journal of Medicine March 1, 2006 Dr. Mercola's Comment: Another typical case of a drug-based "cure" that harms rather than heals and one in which you have received fair warning. The New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM) rushed this study to its Web site in order to get a warning out as early as possible regarding the frightening and harmful effects of Tequin (gatifloxacin). More than 1,200 seniors who were looked at in the two-year study required medical attention, and 69 patients died after taking Tequin. These results have prompted calls for a ban from some experts, along with Public Citizen, although Bristol-Myers claims they were aware of the problems and that the FDA mandated label accounts for those new findings. Point to Ponder #3 - NRC Delivers Wake Up Call on Fluoride: Current allowable levels linked to bone fractures, tooth damage, and other toxic effects WASHINGTON DC -- A National Research Council (NRC) report on fluoride toxicity released today gives powerful evidence that many Americans are being over-dosed with harmful levels of fluoride. A wide range of health problems are cited in the report, with bones and teeth being the foremost, but not sole, targets of concern. The current “maximum contaminant level” for fluoride, 4 parts per million (ppm), was set by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to protect adults from crippling skeletal fluorosis, a severe arthritic bone disease. The NRC advises the EPA to lower this standard because of strong evidence linking fluoride to bone fracture, joint pain, and damage to teeth. The NRC also notes a growing body of scientific research linking fluoride exposure to disruption of the nervous and endocrine systems, including the brain, thyroid and pineal gland. According to data presented in the report, the doses of fluoride associated with thyroid disturbances are now exceeded by many Americans – particularly children - living in so-called “low fluoride” (1 ppm) areas. “The crucial message of this report is that the highest scientific authority in the US has determined that low levels of fluoride in drinking water may have serious adverse health effects,” says Dr. Paul Connett, professor of chemistry at St. Lawrence University and Executive Director of the Fluoride Action Network. According to Dr. William Hirzy, a chemist at American University and vice president of EPA’s Professionals Union in Washington D. C., “the difference between the levels of fluoride causing toxic effects and the levels added to water to prevent tooth decay is vanishingly small and deeply troubling.” Fluoride is found in processed food, beverages, dental products, pesticide residues and polluted air. “The end result is that some people drinking water with just 1 ppm fluoride may ingest enough fluoride from all sources to experience a health problem,” says Hirzy. Because of concerns over fluoride’s health risks, the NRC report calls on government agencies to introduce nationwide monitoring of fluoride levels in people’s urine and blood. The report also recommends research to clarify the relationship between fluoride and many chronic diseases including cancer, arthritis, dementia, diabetes, and thyroid disease. “The NRC’s report should change the fluoride debate for many years to come,” notes Connett. “It shows that the best, and most recent, medical evidence provides reason for profound concern about current fluoride exposures.” For further information on the NRC report, and EPA’s fluoride standard, see: http://www.fluoridealert.org and/or read the book The Fluoride Deception by Christopher Bryson. Click here to link to Dr. Mercola's review: http://www.mercola. com/2004/jun/9/fluoride_deception.htm. . . . . and yes, apparently Natural Cellular Defense WILL help to detoxify from flouride! Don't forget your pets, either. Cathy Justus of Pagosa Springs CO lost 5 horses to fluoride poisoning as determined by Lennart Krook, DVM, Ph.D, Professor Emmeritus, Department of Biomedical Sciences at Cornell University. Cathy was vitallyy instrumental in ridding the Pagosa Springs water system of the addition of fluoride and is making herself available for talks to any interested group. Cathy can be reached at 970- 264-4462 or justusoriginals@pagosa.net Point to Ponder #4 - Autism Rates Fall With the Removal of Mercury The increase in reported cases of autism has not only slowed, but actually reversed now that thimerosal, a mercury-based vaccine preservative, has finally been removed from childhood vaccines. Studies of two government databases indicate that autism rates went up as thimerosal dosages increased, then began to decline as thimerosal was removed. The average exposure of a young child to thimerosal dropped from 240 micrograms in 1999 to almost nothing four years later. Autism rates among children declined at a similar rate. Dr. Robert Davis, director of the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) immunization safety group, argues that this cannot "... really be taken to provide any evidence one way or the other." Solid evidence of a link between thimerosal and autism could result in serious repercussions for government agencies and drug companies. If new recommendations requiring annual influenza vaccinations for children are followed, their average dose could increase back to 60 micrograms. Documents newly released under the Freedom of Information Act indicate that the CDC was actually discouraging thimerosal's removal behind the scenes, despite their public call for removal. The CDC at one point rejected a proposal by drugmaker SmithKline Beecham to produce thimerosal-free vaccines, and the CDC's commitment to banning thimerosal has often seemed half- hearted since that time. A federal health official, who has requested anonymity, believes that there were other considerations besides safety guiding the CDC's actions, including protecting the economic interests of drug industry partners. The industry's stockpiled thimerosal-based vaccines would have become worthless had there been an immediate ban on the substance. Journal of American Physicians and Surgeons Spring 2006 Association of American Physicians and Surgeons March 6, 2006 . . . With this evidence in hand, it seems to us to be an absolutely PERFECT reason for EVERYONE to detox their bodies of mercury and other heavy metal toxins as soon as possible - especially if there are signs of mental confusion of any sort. The very best and least expensive way we have found to accomplish this is through the home chelation therapy drops Natural Cellular Defense. And of course, do not be fooled into thinking that ALL thimerosol has been removed from ALL vaccines; in fact, most flu vaccines still contain quantities plus all vaccines contain many other toxins which need removing. BREAKFAST - GREEN SMOOTHIES are a healthful variation of standard fruit smoothies which can stress the pancreas; this combination of fruit with greens hides the raw, but nutrient- packed, “green” taste many people object to thus making such greens far more palatable for most individuals. Blend together:
especially well with coconut milk & cilantro!):
LUNCH - CARROT/APPLE/BEET SALAD—mix together with 2T fresh lemon juice: 1 cup @ grated carrots & apple (a snap with a food processor but still fast with just a box grater) and 1/4 cup grated beet; add 2T olive oil and eat with some dark leafy greens such as Romaine lettuce or baby spinach. Vary daily with such options as:
SNACK [mid-morning, mid-afternoon, & evening] - BROTH drink a cup or two of hot free range chicken broth, miso or Bernard Jensen's Broth base if you feel hunger between meals OR eat a fresh apple DINNER - SLIM SOUP—to a free-range chicken broth, miso, or Bernard Jensen’s Broth base add 6 chopped onions, 1 cup @ diced celery & carrots, 6 cups chopped cabbage, 2 chopped bell peppers (red, orange, yellow or green), 3-4 large ripe chopped tomatoes, 2-3 cloves minced garlic; simmer until veggies are softened and eat as is or puree with stick blender. Carbohydrate types may need to add a handful or so of alkaline “grain” such as millet, or some squash or sweet potato while protein types may need to add a bit of ground beef/bison or chicken. All can add a salad of fresh tomato, avocado & greens to begin the meal and whatever seasoning you would like to the soup. ALTERNATIVES: there are times when you may need something more or healthful alternatives to the soup. Here are some suggestions:
