Point to Ponder #1 - The Avian Flu Well, the NEW VIRUS SCARE is the Avian Flu, specifically virus H5N1. Each year we seem to have something to hype about and this seems to be the one now. To make things even dicier, according to some research, apparently the Great Flu Epidemic of 1918 was actually a form of avian flu - or at least that is what is being batted around. Seems to me that "new" viruses will always be cropping up and that to think "they" can come up with vaccines for every one only pours money into the pockets of vaccine makers. Perhaps it would be wisest to do some simple things like
Of course, our Vitamins of choice are Dynamite Regular or Plus - no, these are NOT the one-a-day kinds - you simply cannot obtain sufficient supplementation from those. Important to add to your multiple is Vitamin C. This has been proven time and again to be effective as both a preventive and as a crisis manager. This particular type of virus actually uses up Vitamin C stores so quickly that the immune system is overwhelmed and the blood vessels loose their structural integrity: they leak so badly that infected animals, and people, literally bleed to death through those damaged vessels; this is known as fulminate scurvy. Vitamin C is NOT TOXIC but your bowel will reach a tolerance level and let you know by soft stools. Our Vitamin C of choice is Ester C which is 4 time more absorbable by the body than plain ascorbic acid while its bonding to calcium eases/eliminates stomach distress. The form of Ester C we choose is Dynamite Hiscorbadyne. In addition to the Ester C, it also contains a host of other nutrients that work synergystically with C to provide the most thorough coverage possible. In order to more easily take larger quantities of Hiscorbadyne (or any Vit C), take it 4 times per day. Start with one capsule the first day in the am; day 2, add 1 in the evening; day 3, add 1 at lunch and day 4, add 1 midafternoon - always take with some food. After that, add one per day starting in the morning and going through to lunch, snack, and evening until your bowel says enough. At that point, reduce the amount of Hiscorbadyne you are taking by 1/4 - that will then be the amount YOUR PARTICULAR BODY can tolerate. We have heard of some people taking 16 and more per day while others will tolerate only 3-4 per day - this is very individualistic. Interesting to note with the Avian Flu, is that apparently research has shown that selenium can block viral mutations. Of course, to stay in balance, we recommend taking Dynamite SOD, in addition to the multi and Hiscorbadyne, which contains not only selenium, but also Vit E, zinc, copper, & manganese, all of which boost the immune system. Especially if you tend to have a challenged immune system, do consider taking this. We also choose to take DMG which is sold only for animal use. Russian studies have shown this Vit B15 can actually boost the immune system function by 400%, so a pinch of this pleasant- tasting powder goes along with our 4x/day Hiscorbadyne regimen. Most doctors of course will suggest vaccines. However, according to Rima E. Laibow, MD, Medical Director, Natural Solutions Foundation, http://www.healthfreedomusa.org/index.shtml, they can have some serious repercussions: "Tamiflu (oseltamivir). The widely touted antiviral drug (like its cousin Relenza or zanamivir) produced drug resistant viruses in 18% of children treated with the drug and a drug resistant strain has been found in a Vietnamese girl treated with the drug. A drug resistant strain would be a far more dangerous virus than one which had not learned how to evade the drug's effect. Viruses can not become resistant to Vitamin C. According to a recent posting on www.mercola.com, Tamiflu was developed by a company called Gilead who assigned Swiss pharmaceutical giant Roche, Inc. exclusive rights to manufacture it with of course, a "royalty" for each dose which costs a consumer $100. The government is stockpiling Tamiflu, proven almost useless against avian flu, at the cost of $2 billion taxpayers dollars. Interestingly, Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld was made the chairman of Gilead in 1997 and holds major portions of stock in the company. FluMist. This is a live virus vaccine which introduces between 10 and 100 million viruses into the nose. Those viruses are not the same as the Avian Flu and therefore do not confer immunity against it since only the identical virus could do that. FluMist is based on last years viruses which were not effective against last year's viruses. They are certainly not effective against the Avian Flu virus which has not yet become infective to humans so no vaccine exists against it in its infective form. once treated with FluMist, people shed live, infective viruses for up to 3 weeks which can give people flu In fact, immuno-compromised people, nursing babies, people with eczema, HIV, taking steroids, chemotherapy, radiation treatment (or the 60% of the American population which is chemically immuno-suppressed) are at significant danger if they come into contact with anyone who has been inoculated with FluMist. FluMist is delivered into the nostrils by a forceful squirt. This puts infective viruses very close to the brain where they can pass through the thin cribiform plate at the top of the nostrils and enter the brain. It is not known if such treatment causes encephalitis. Only time will tell but the risk is a serious one considering the morbidity (sickness) and mortality (death) caused by encephalitis. Each of the three viruses in FluMist can mutate and can cause mutations in the Avian Flu. Those mutations can supply the Avian Flu virus as it currently exists with the genetic sequences it needs to become a pandemic virus. The FluMist live virus nasal inoculation can assist the much feared Avian Flu virus to transform into the very pandemic we are being told to fear." Dr. Laibow also suggests that we all sign the new Citizen's Petition, available at the website above, which contains the Revised Vitamin and Mineral Guideline which can make the US Codex Compliant and preserve your rights to optimal health through nutrition. If you have signed it before, you can sign it again since the original Citizen's Petition has been revised. Point to Ponder #2 - Silver Kills Virus Tuesday, October 18, 2005 - FreeMarketNews.com In a groundbreaking study, the Journal of Nanotechnology has published a study that found silver nanoparticles kills HIV-1 and is likely to kill virtually any other virus. The study, which was conducted by the University of Texas and Mexico University, is the first medical study to ever explore the benefits of silver nanoparticles, according to Physorg. During the study, researchers used three different methods of limiting the size of the silver nanoparticles by using capping agents. The capping agents were foamy carbon, poly (PVP), and bovine serum albumin (BSA). The particles ranged in size from 1 to 10 nanometers depending on the method of capping. After incubating the HIV-1 virus at 37 C, the silver particles killed 100% of the virus within 3 hours for all three methods. The scientists believe that the silver particles bonded through glycoprotein knobs on the virus with spacing of about 22 nanometers in length. While further research is needed, researchers are optimistic that nanological silver may be the silver bullet to kill viruses. The researchers in the study said that they had already begin experiments using silver nanoparticles to kill what is known as the super bug (Methicillin resistant staphylococcus aureus). Already used as a topical antibiotic in the medical industry, silver may now come under consideration as an alternative to drugs when it comes to fighting previously untreatable viruses such as the Tamiflu resistant avian flu. staff reports - Free-Market News Network http://www.freemarketnews.com/WorldNews.asp?nid=1401 ....and of course Dynamite Solace is the finest colloidal silver available with 200 ppm silver guaranteed although it's often much higher. No, it's not nanotechnology, but the particles are so tiny, they work incredibly well. And we know that silver has been used safely and effectively not only for centuries but also far more recently in this country with eye, burn and wound treatments, plus being used as a catheter covering to reduce infections during catheter use. Humane societies have even used it to halt Parvo outbreaks. For more information on the uses of colloidal silver, see http://curezone.com/foods/silver.asp. Point to Ponder #3 - Chemical Sweeteners: Aspartame & Splenda Book Suggestions: Sweet Poison: How the World's Most Popular Artificial Sweetener is Killing Us and Splenda: Is it Safe or Not? both by Janet Star Hull, Ph.D. With the holiday season approaching, more and more people are turning to artificial sweeteners so they can indulge without feeling guilty. Unfortunately studies are showing that such sweeteners are NOT OK from numerous standpoints including the myth of losing weight. In fact, they tend to bloat those eating them whether in soft drinks, candies, baked goods or even chewing gum. Additionally, they stimulate hunger, unhealthy eating habits, and weight gain partly because they, at least aspartame, blocks the production of serotonin, which increases cravings for carbs, leading to craving more food, and an increased appetite. ASPARTAME - known by the trade names NutriSweet and Equal, has been linked to headaches, Fibromyalgia and other serious health problems including mimicing Graves disease, a thyroid problem with the following symptoms: racing heart rate, lethargy, debilitating headaches, restlessness yet chronic fatigue, sleep apathy, moodiness, vertigo, ringing in the ears, blurred vision, and depression. Although the manufacturers continue to insist aspartame is safe, independent research suggests it's a potential neurotoxin, which can disrupt brain function by over-stimulating and irritating nerve endings. Pilots are not allowed to partake of aspartame. SPLENDA - widely touted as a "natural" sweetener, it is not. Rather Splenda research documents numbness of the hind legs in male rats and has negative effects on the livers, spleens and kidneys of laboratory animals. In addition, other research cites recurring laboratory results of infertility in male rats and gastrointestinal problems in pregnant rats fed Splenda. ALTERNATIVES - How about returning to Real Foods? These are described by Diana Schwarzbein, MD as any food which you could in theory pluck, pick, hunt or milk. In other words, do not just read labels - stay away from labels!Real food supplies natural sugars along with the nutrients necessary for good health. In addition:
NEW INULIN is a chemical believed to improve blood lipid levels and is currently being studied as a pre-cancer nutrient. Recent animal research shows that inulin prevents adverse precancerous changes in the colon. Inulin is recommended for diabetics, and because it is not absorbed into the bloodstream, it does not affect blood sugar levels. Inulin has a mildly sweet taste, and is filling like starchy foods. It is a preferred food for the lactobacilli in the intestine and can improve the balance of friendly bacteria in the bowel. Inulin is found in two sweeteners new to the American market – Tastes Like Sugar® from Empirical Labs (Contact Asa at orders@empirical-labs.com or call 970-461-3780 to inquire), and Yacón, another South American sweetener from Peru. Yacón can be eaten raw, just like a fruit, and once the roots have been dried in the sun, they become sweeter. Expect to see more of these new sweeteners in the near future. XYLITOL is derived from the bark of the silver birch, and can actively reduce the amount of the Streptococcus mutans bacteria implicated in dental decay. It is being used in Europe for chewing gum; I would hope it could be used in children's chewable vitamins in lieu of the deleterious chemicals that are so common.
