Dett literally knocked at our back door over 8 years ago and, totally cat-like,
never left! At the time he appeared, he was, according to the vet, 9-10 years
old and obviously tough as nails although quite thin, with a ragged ear and a
nasty mouth.

Today Dett (originally called Odetta until the vet set us straight!) looks like he’s
a very healthy, rambunctious 6 or 7 year old thanks to a steady diet of field
mice, CMR Dog Food and Purrrformance. In fact, if we (horror of horrors!)
let the free choice Purrrformance lapse (we sprinkle it on his bowl of
Dynamite dog food), Dett lets us know in strident yowls that he has been
thoroughly scorned. We get it fast!

Dett runs around like a kitten, brings both “his” other cat and dog daily mice
treats from his fabulous hunting prowess, climbs the ladder when it’s set up to
work on light fixtures, helps massage Mom, plays with our 2 yr old GSD, and
generally acts like you would think a black, mostly-Siamese “Bast-Cat” would.

He has never been vaccinated while under our care and just keeps getting
younger and younger with nary a health problem in sight! You can see both the
gleam in his coat and in his eye as he gets ready to pounce on the
photographer!
