HYPOTHYROIDISM What products would you recommend for
hypothyroidism? I am taking Dyanmite Plus, Tri Mins, Izmine and am adding Dyna Lite
specifically for my thyroid problem. Any other advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Kelli
Glad you're taking the DynaLite, Kelli, but I also think you might consider using the D regular
instead of just the Plus.
No organ or glad functions on it's own, so I would also look at perhaps doing a liver/bowel detox
- can be very much associated with the thyroid - I'm posting a good article in April's newsletter
on how effective bentonite is for cleansing and we have some of the best ever in Miracle Clay.
Another not-so-subtle influence on the thyroid is fluoride - hopefully you're not consuming any
in your municipal water supply or even in over-use of tea.
There's a great yoga posture that helps stimulate the thyroid - called the Plow - and to stimulate
the bowels daily for complete elimination, try the special Wringer movement I give in my Living
Energetically book :)
ROSEACEA UPDATE I'm always researching and just found this quote from
Dr. Eric Serrano concerning Roseacea - thought I'd share it with you since a very early
question concerned this (scroll waaaay down) ...
"Most common reasons for rosacea are allergies or lack of certain vitamins. Start by eliminating
wheat and dairy, then make sure that your diet is very low in sugars (including starchy carbs and
high fructose corn syrup), and very high in GLA, which is an anti-inflammatory fat that will help
with the rosacea. Or, you can start eating more nuts, if you are not allergic to them. Organic,
grass-fed butter is also very high in Gamma Linoleic Acid, as well as Conjugated Linoleic Acid...
Keep in mind, that rosacea is also worsened by alcohol or fermented drinks, including beer and
wine. This is also one of the few times that I use an antifungal in my practice because 22% of
those with rosacea do respond to antifungals, but the diet must be low in sugar. I use Lamisil,
or you can also use oregano, ginger and garlic together to try to clean the fungal infection,
which most likely resides in the GI tract."
Q - Ankylosing Spondylitis My nephew-in-law was just to get him on a
program and was wondering what products you thought best. hes only 23 and would
like to try something other than prescription drugs first, and anything herbal you could
recommend for the pain would be great. Heather K., CO
A ... That is nasty, Heather. Essentially AS is yet another form of essentially rheumatoid arthritis
with perhaps a genetic link. Nutritionally speaking, the need is to alkalize and reduce inflammation.
1) NO PACKAGED FOODS, ALCOHOL, COFFEE, SUGAR, etc!!!! Probably very hard for a 23 yr
old, but, if he's motivated enough ....
2) ONLY ORGANIC PRODUCE & GRASS-ONLY ANIMAL PRODUCTS - if none of your family grows
these, I offer some online links on my Human Nutrition page.
3) consume PLENTY OF FAT ie: cream, butter, eggs, avocado, coconut all of which are fantastic
for reducing inflammation!
4) RAW MEAT if possible - I have some starter recipes in June's newsletter - the raw, grass-fed
meat & animal products reduce inflammation and do NOT cause high cholesterol as docs will try
to say
5) LOTS OF RAW GREENS - try juicing or blending - VERY alkalizing!... he can make green
smoothies, raw soups (with raw butter, raw cream, raw egg, etc.), elixir drinks - I have all in my
2008 newsletters - see archive. Also, check out the recipes on Kieba's page. With her new
books now available, he can order those for many more ideas.
6) Supplement-wise, I would suggest PLENTY of Omega 3's and Dynamite Herbal Green (or Dr.
Ben Kim's Greens).
If he actually follows these recommendations, along with doing both the BreathWork and
Movements I suggest in my Living Energetically book, I would think there's a very good
possibility for him reducing or eliminating both current pain and further inflammation. Let me
know how it goes, dear.
Q - Sjogren's Syndrome My mother-in-law Margaret has all of the
symptoms of Sjogrens and also has arthritis. The doctor says there is nothing he can
do for the Shogrens except to give her pain meds. Typical response from a medical
doctor. Would Izmine help her? Do you have any suggestions for us? I was hoping
that in all of the research that you have done that you may have come across
something that would help. She is in a lot of pain and her eyes are really dry all of the
time, too. Barb P., WY
A . . . Well, for starters, the arthritis is probably due to the Sjogren's - auto-immune diseases
are notoriously difficult to treat allopathically because they are essentially an ideopathic
inflammation of various parts of the body. Even holistically they are difficult and require some
serious commitment to finally rid the body of the inflammation. I see 3 main steps here plus pain
control:
1) First and foremost, remove inflammation causation via a deep cleanse - both of the
gut/colon (see suggestions under toxins) and of the organism as a whole from heavy metals
and other toxins (see NCD). Such deep cleansing frequently eases symptoms radically in and of
itself. I would strongly urge both since both are essential with autoimmune syndromes - without
a healthy gut which is unattainable without removing all toxins including metals, etc., health
cannot really be achieved no matter what supplementation you throw at it.
2) Rebuild - Then of course, it goes to what to eat to start rebuilding healthy cellular structure.
By following all (ultimately, "picking and choosing" will really slow the building process waaaay
down or stop it entirely) the suggestions on my Nutrition page, and eating a lot of the green
smoothies and raw soups found in my April 2008 and May 2008 newsletters, she can start
building up her immune system's strength so it doesn't go after itself.
3) Supplement - the third step would be to supplement following my suggestions both on the
Nutrition page and the Dynamite page - so yes, Izmine but perhaps in the Elixir form for now to
aid digestion and start a mild detox and alkalization while the cleansing is going on - the rest
would depend on just where her body was at the time
Pain Control - As for controlling the pain naturally, I found with my Post Polio Seqelae and the
nerve pain that caused, that literally handsful of Inositol (a B vitamin) got me off the narcotics -
then when I found Dynamite, I used Release religiously numerous times a day and found that
relieved all-over sensitivity that the muscle spasms had caused (now I even use it in my eyes a
number of times a day to relieve the redness and dryness caused by staring at a computer
screen) and Tranquil a few times per day but mainly at night ... I have not used so much as an
aspirin since my body became more balanced from the minerals contained both in the Basics and
the extra Izmine and Herbal Green - another D supplement I have found invaluable, and I think it
could be for her, too, is the Adrenal Support Formula. Of course each individual is going to have
to figure out what works best in each situation.
Q - Weight Gain & Menopause I have gained a lot of weight over the last
few years-some of it due to "falling off the wagon" of good nutrition, some due to
menopause per naturopath. I have severe hot flashes and night sweats a lot (I know
about bio-identical hormones-I have not found anybody that prescribes them and also
heard they were pricey-probably worth it!!). I have used just about every natural
remedy for them, with little relief. I started taking organic flax per suggestion of
naturopath but am now concerned that this may be keeping the weight on. Sometimes
i feel like it does help with the menopause stuff and at other times not so much. Living
in a hot, humid climate (summer) probably makes them worse. I really need to get
this weight off and I hope if I can relieve the menopause symptoms I will feel better
and get some of my energy back. My sister-in-law is selling a wt loss patch. She uses
it but she is already thin-state, eating more than usual and craving junk. She thinks
artificial sweeteners are great and buys a lot of processed foods. I value your input and
was just wondering if you have any thoughts. p.s. I am on whole foods diet and take
superfood daily etc. Debra C, TX
A . . . OK - big thing is to get back ON the wagon of good nutrition!
- drink at least 1 Green Smoothie a day
- increase your Omega 3 intake (grass-fed beef/bison, which we need for other reasons, too,
and/or fish/salmon oil, etc)
- avoid flax - chia is far more healthful but bodies still require animal-sourced Omega 3 to make
the veggie form fully bio-available
- avoid glutens
- please consider doing a complete cleanse - I have numerous suggestions on my Toxins page -
this can frequently, and amazingly, effect a total turn-around on hormone issues
- add some Adrenal Support to your basic SuperFoods and supplement program - test daily for
the amount appropriate for you
- perform the Movements I teach in my Living Energetically book, especially the Wringer, but all
are valuable
... and last but not least, I personally would avoid any advice given by someone thinking
aspartame and processed foods are healthful!!!
If you want to do more checking into the bio-identical hormones, Dr. Alan Inglis, M.D. says: Two
good resources to find bioidentical hormones are the Natural Hormone Pharmacy (800-522-
6692) and the Women's International Pharmacy (800-279- 5708). See www.iacprx.org for a
listing of compounding pharmacists around the country. Contact any of these organizations to
locate a local practitioner who works with bio-identical hormones.
Additionally, if you are familiar with acupuncture and have a chart handy, you might try daily
stimulation (Release and/or tuning forks) of the following points in order for 5 minutes each. 1)
Bi-lateral K3 (ankles); 2) CV1 or 2 (below navel); 3) CV6 (navel); 4) Bi-lateral B22 (kidney area);
CV18 (thymus); Bi-lateral MH6 (wrist); Bi-lateral LI18 (base of skull); & GV20 (crown).
Q - High Blood Pressure I have a girlfriend who has high blood pressure and
is resisting using "chemicals" to control it. Apparently it is quite high and she is
becoming more worn out after working with her horses every day. Can you give me
some ideas Rowan? Nancy K., CO
A . . . Hi Nancy - So just what IS your girlfriend's BP reading? I'm glad she's resisting the drugs
- they have SUCH side-effects including the possibility of contributing to future diabetes - and
so many people are well able to control BP through diet and exercise.
First thing is to look at her diet - HBP is essentially an internal inflammation, which means an
acidic condition. Following the basic diet I set out on my Nutrition page, using mainly organic
veggies/fruits and pastured-only animal products limiting any grains to only a small amount of
the gluten-free/alkaline based (since her insulin receptors are likely to be blunted) that I suggest
there, helps to limit inflammation, as can supplements of Omega 3 - in fact, follow the whole
page!
Many nutritionists/dieticians/MD's say red meat/dairy contributes to HBP, but in actuality, it is
only the agri-business type that does - pastured-only results in Omega 3 meats as high in
Omega 3 as wild salmon and raw, pastured-only dairy can be exceptionally healing.
She might also want to have a green smoothie for breakfast every day varying the fruits and
greens used - this is a delicious way to control inflammation and I have numerous suggestions in
my March newsletter. And in my April newsletter which will be posted probably tomorrow, I have
an energy drink in there called Kieba's Liver Rocket Fuel, that should also help heal the high BP
while energizing her so she can continue to enjoy her horses.
Of course, it would be super if she could also utilize the basic Dynamite program adding in Herbal
Green (or Dr. Ben Kim's greens) to help alkalize and Adrenal Support to aid energy levels
especially if she's needing to wean herself from coffee, pop, sweets/candy, etc.
Aside from diet/nutrition, many individuals find success with using vigorous exercise. Following
the Movements I have in my Living Energetically book, especially the more advanced ones, in an
aerobic manner for only 10 minutes at a time, 2-3 times per day, could work wonders for her.
In addition, sunlight and electrical acupuncture both can also help reduce BP, but unless the diet
is addressed swiftly and radically, these alone would be like the little Dutch boy and the levee!
Q - Fasting (Cleansing) I have been researching safe methods of fasting and
have found many different opinions. Just wondering your thoughts on this. Thanks
Debra C, TX
A...It's a very large subject Debra and I'll be going into it pretty thoroughly in my eventually
upcoming book The Real Food Diet, but in general, I would follow these three steps:
- begin with going on a truly pure food diet such as I give on my Human Nutrition page (no,
not necessarily vegan) to start the process
- then go to mostly pure RAW food (again, not necessarily vegan) eating plenty of green
smoothies, salads, sprouts, soaked nuts/seeds, raw soups, and, if necessary, some
Ezekial bread with some great nut/seed/veggie spreads
- then to fresh organic veggie juices with a raw egg yolk, or even 1-2 oz raw liver (obviously
only from grass-fed cattle/bison) for those needing the protein & B12 ....
Before a pure juice fast can be initiated however, the bowel has to be functioning 3-4 times per
day which the steps above can encourage. If you don't physically cleanse the bowel, you face the
danger of auto-toxicity which can make you quite ill. There are numerous cleansing herbs
available - Dr Schultz's organic/wild crafted herbal formulas, Intestinal Formulas #1 & #2, http:
//www.herbdoc.com/abptoc.asp, are exceptionally good -and he has a special liver detox
formula, too, for later. I also give an ancient yogic technique in my Living Energetically book to
help keep the entire intestinal tract, plus the liver, in good, healthy, functional shape - vital really
for fasts - as is showering daily, skin-buffing, sweats, soaks, etc. to aid in drawing out toxins.
If you want to fast for spiritual reasons, in my estimation it's still wise to build up to it -
depending on the individual, more fruit in the fresh organic juices can definitely be of help and it
can continue until the body says it wants food again - I once went on a week-long spiritual fast
that ended up lasting 33 days!
What I think is vital, in fasting or in anything else for that matter, is to listen to your own body
rather than take someone else's word for it - if the Herxheimer effect kicks in, back off so you
don't go into a possibly dangerous healing crisis. Overall, I think pure water fasts can be waaaay
too harsh for anyone but a very experienced faster..... building up to pure organic juices though
can offer a safe, and healing, fast.
Q - Nasty Virus We are doing fine except for a nasty virus making an
appearance in the household. I do recall reading on your site about TTO [Tea Tree Oil]
used orally to fight off infections/ breakouts. If this is the case, would you please
explain how to go about taking it. I do realize that Dynamite cannot endorse taking it
by mouth and so the info has not been posted. And I fully understand I would be using
at my own risk. Thank you for any help you can provide. Eleanore B., CO
A ... What I have done in the past, Eleanore, is to get the large gelatin caps or whatever size is
easy for you to take - the idea is to get 20 drops of Dynamite Tea Tree Oil (only ours as others
will probably not have the proper cineol:terpinen ratio) down as quickly as possible in the
morning for 3 mornings in a row - 3 caps have done it for me, but you have to work quickly as
the caps start to disintegrate very quickly - empty stomach (other than early morning water) ....
However, I have usually saved this rather extreme method for serious fungus/candida/etc.
Generally for "standard" viruses, I use up to 60 drops of Trace Minerals Concentrate per day as
an immune system booster - works great!
Have you tried dropping peroxide in your ears and nasal irrigating with TTO or even the TMC?
Both of those can also help considerably!
NEW: Also olive leaf extract has been known to help (Thanks Nancy K!)
Q - Dry Eyes I am desperate for help with my dry eyes. I have tried omega 3's,
all kinds of drops - natural and otherwise, prescription Restatis and even trying liquid
silicon used for my horses' joints. I am an avid Dynamite user. I currently take Dyn
Plus, TriMins, Mangn. Plus, Izmine, PMS, Hiscorb. and then add some Omega 3
capsules and Spirulina. I eat lots of fruits, vegies, and whole grains, including lots of
ground flax. I try to consume mostly healthy fare. I workout daily - above and beyond
my daily horse routine. Do you have any suggestions I may not have tried. The latest
tip I read was that Vitamin C worked for one person. I would sure try more Ester C if
that would do the trick. I am 47 and probably entering Menopause soon so I'm
guessing that is the cause. As always, your advice would be treasured and tried.
Thanks. Kelli S., SD
A ... Wow Kelli - sounds like you've done quite a bit to overcome your dry eyes, but a few items
did catch my eye.
1) You're taking a lot of flax you say. As a known goiterogen, this could be affecting not only
your thyroid, but also your entire hormone system. Do seriously consider taking normal
amounts (1-2T) of chia instead; and no need to grind first. See my page on Chia. But do bear in
mind that animal sources of Omega 3 are vital for human ability to utilize plant-sourced O3 -
hopefully you're eating plenty of pastured-only red meat and raw dairy. These can supply as
much O3 as salmon!
2) Menopause is a known cause of dry eyes. As the hormones change over in your body,
frequently the eyes get shorted. Have you considered perhaps some bio-identical hormone
therapy? Of course taking plenty of Omega 3 supplements like you're doing can also help,
especially if you reduce your vegetable oil use, especially avoiding standard oils and canola or soy
in particular.
3) You've tried numerous drops, many of which can actually, in the long run, cause even more
dry eyes because of their vaso-constricting properties. Have you tried the homeopathic drops
Similisan? I personally have found spraying my eyes with Dynamite Release to alleviate
temporary red, dry, itchy eyes from computer overuse.
4) Other causes of dry eyes are various meds, conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, etc., and
even just extra dry air/pollution either inside or outside. Inside, make sure you have a good air
cleaner and perhaps have an air moisturizer going. Naturally you'd also be sure you're drinking
plenty of water and even using the Catalyst Water in your daily water to make it more cellularly
available. Also adding Elixir to your daily water intake helps balance electrolytes. We even put the
Cat water in our mister. For outside, you might consider the Panoptyx sunglasses that have an
orbital seal to keep out dust, etc.
5) You most definitely ARE taking lots of Dynamite supplements! Just wondering if you'd like to
give the D regular a try instead of the Plus? There's a higher concentration of nutrients in there
actually, which may be of benefit to you.
6) In addition to your standard workouts, have you tried the energy-producing BreathWork and
Movements in my Living Energetically book? By generating more energy in your body, you can
not only positively affect all hormone functions, but you can also actually direct it to various
organs and glands that need boosting. Even simply covering both eyes gently with cupped
palms for a few minutes numerous times per day can help, but directing more specific energy
could help even more.
Let me know if any, or all or a combination, of these suggestions work, Kelli! .... oh, and by the
way, you might consider eating non-gluten, alkaline grains such as amaranth, millet, quinoa,
buckwheat and such rather than wheat. This CAN cause allergic reactions which CAN exhibit as
dry eyes!
Q - Holiday cold symptoms I have all of my family here for Christmas. (35
for Christmas dinner) and I have a sore throat, feels like the (usually unavoidable) cold
coming on. What would you do? Nancy K., CO
A ... First may I say what an utterly brave soul you are!
- I would spray my face/sinuses and throat (inside & out) liberally and frequently with Release;
- I would do some specific BreathWork and energy work with my throat as I speak of in my
Living Energetically book which I know you have;
- I would check in to see if this was my throat chakra saying it was holding in needed words
and look very closely if that was the case;
- I would gargle with Solace - or, if no Solace on hand, with FRESH lemon juice;
- I would nasal irrigate with Solace;
- I would take 20-30 drops Trace Minerals plus 6-12 Hiscorbadyne per day;
- I would drink extra Cat/Elixir water;
- I would NAP;
- I would request as much help around the house as possible;
- I would say "god bless you all - enjoy what I have been able to do"
UPDATE: I begin following you instructions to the letter NOW!!! The Release feels great on my
throat. I'll let you know the outcome.
Q - Split fingers I have been drinking, for the past five months, at least twice
as much water as I used to drink. (I read on your web page that this can help reduce
migraines and it has, indeed, cut my occurrences in half.) Every winter I get splits in
the flesh of my right thumb. This winter, despite the increase in fluids, the splits are
worse and not only in my right thumb, but also my left and also a middle finger. I take
one 1,000 mg gel capsule of omega 3 fish oils, plus a teaspoon a day of Nordic cod
liver oil. These are also supposed to help, but aren't. What's going on and how do I
cure it? Holly F., CO
A ... Oh my - that can be sooo painful! A great topical for this, and one that John has found to
be imperative for all the work he does out in the winter dry cold, is to rub Wound Balm not only
on the split but also the whole hand. This seems to stop the splitting and even can help with
some joint discomfort. Some other considerations are:
- is it absolutely pure water that you are drinking? (glad your migraines are minimized!) ... if it's
not, you may be trying to detox more nasties... the general rule of thumb is to take your
normal weight in pounds, divide by 2 and drink that amount but in ounces
- do you add anything to it such as Dynamite Elixir and Catalyst Water?... the Elixir is for
digestion/electrolytes and the Cat Water is for cellular fluid uptake
- are there any toxins in your food/household/skin products?
- do you allow plenty good fats such as whole avocado, olives, nuts into your diet and eat some
pastured-only, range-free animal products such as beef/bison, eggs, wild salmon, etc?... if
not, you may need to increase your Carlson's cod-liver oil
- are you on the basic Dynamite supplement program, besides the Elixir/Cat water, of Dynamite
regular or Plus and TriMins?.... and, just like the horses, I find at this time of year, that I want
an extra capsule or 2 per day of the Izmine
- you might also want to consider some full B-complex (Solaray has some good ones) and even
some extra Vit E (the d-tocopherols only; NOT the dl- type) if you're not using the D basics
UPDATE - Because of the holiday frenzy, I elected to just continue my water intake but to
increase the cod liver oil to two teaspoons. While I waited for the frenzy to pass my cuts healed
up and no headaches!
Q - Rosacea Rosacea? I have it. Never had bad skin ever. Tried all things natural
in and outside of the body and some things help but it is always there, never gone.
What to do??? Virginia S., WY
A ... From a holistic standpoint, Rosacea is inflammation caused by eating a more acid inclined
diet rather than an alkaline one which results in auto-toxicity from an inadequately cleaned out
colon. Remember the skin is one of our major organs of elimination. If one of our other
elimination organs, such as the colon (lungs, kidneys, etc.) is "clogged" and inflamed, then the
skin will become inflamed, too. Because of the inflammation aspect, some doctors prescribe
Tetracycline.
- If it were me, though, I'd simply take my Solace and eliminate all possible allergens (which
cause more inflammation) from my diet, but especially gluten and pasteurized dairy products.
- You might also want to check out my Articles page where you'll find numerous ones on
these subjects.
- Rather than just taking pills, even good SolaRay B-vitamin complex and Carlson's cod liver
oil in addition to your Dynamite basics, I would urge you to read, and follow, the
suggestions found on both my Toxins page and on my Nutrition-Human page.
- Drinking fresh made vegetable juices and green smoothies can make quite a difference in
both your pH balance and gut cleansing efforts.
- And of course adequate pure water intake is vital for everyone, everywhere, all the time. An
easy way to figure the approximate amount of water you need daily is to divide your weight
by 2 and state that in ounces. So, if you weigh 140 lbs, then you'd need about 70 oz of
water (no, not coffee, pop, milk, juice, etc) daily.
- Also helpful, at least initially, is to drink your daily Elixir allotments just before each meal.
This will aid digestion by stimulating hydrochloric acid production - and even taking over a bit
until your body balances out to produce appropriate amounts.
- You'll find a lot more nutrition advise on juicing, smoothies, and even cleansing-type salads
in my Living Energetically book. Also in there, you'll find a super BreathWork/Movement that
stimulates the entire digestive tract.
And yes, once this all takes place, you should see far fewer over-rosy cheeks!
